Samsung has unveiled two new budget Android smartphones this morning, which will be making their debut in Europe next month. Both are successors to existing Samsung smartphones — the Galaxy Ace and the Galaxy mini — offering “upgraded features and services.”

The Galaxy Ace 2 is the pick of the pair, packing a dual-core 800MHz processor, a 3.8-inch WVGA display (480 x 800), a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a VGA front-facing camera. It also offers GPS, 4GB of internal storage, a 1,500 mAh battery, and HSDPA 14.4Mbps connectivity.

The Galaxy mini 2 packs “a real performance punch,” according to Samsung, with a 3.27-inch HVGA display (320 x 480), a single-core 800MHz processor, a 3-megapixel fixed-focus rear-facing camera, and 4GB of internal storage. There’s also a 1,300 mAh battery and HSDPA 7.2Mbps connectivity.

Both devices will ship with the usual array of Samsung software, including its TouchWiz user interface, Samsung Apps, Samsung Kies air, Social Hub, Music Hub, ChatON, and more. Those are baked into the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung, says that the company’s new devices are part of the company’s focus on delivering something suitable for everyone:

“Launched in 2011, GALAXY Ace and GALAXY mini have been a huge success in the global market. Today, we introduce GALAXY Ace 2 and GALAXY mini 2 with upgraded features and services.

“Our goal remains the same-to continue to create new and improved mobile experiences that deliver something suitable for everyone. This is the hallmark of Samsung’s GALAXY range and what has made the GALAXY brand such a runaway hit with consumers around the world.”

Samsung is yet to announce pricing for the new handsets, but it has stated that they will be available in the U.K. from April, then in France in March, before they begin their global rollout.
